There’s no place like home to earn a solid victory.
Lightweight contender JJ Pagan thoroughly outboxed Bryan Jimenez at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to win a unanimous decision in the main event of a Salita Promotions card Tuesday night on DAZN. Pagan (15-0, 5 KOs) fought in his hometown for the first time as a pro.

Don Trella scored the fight 100-90, while judges Vincent Santino and Dave DeJonge had it 99-91.

Pagan, 26, who entered the bout ranked No. 11 by the WBO, quickly established himself as the better boxer. He found a home early and often for his straight right hand against the 28-year-old southpaw from Nicaragua.

Jimenez (18-3, 10 KOs) had his best moments of the fight in the sixth round, when he was able to trap Pagan along the ropes and land power shots. That momentum was quickly thwarted, as Pagan’s movement and ability to land his straight right hand helped him to reassert control of the fight in the seventh.

Earlier Tuesday night, Caroline Veyre (11-1) defeated Delfine Persoon (50-4-1, 20 KOs, 2 NCs) by unanimous decision and won the vacant WBC 130-pound title.

Montreal’s Veyre won by scores of 98-88, 95-91 and 94-92 in an ugly bout that required referee Ben Rodriguez to play as big of a role as the two combatants in a world title fight. The WBC title was vacated by unified Ring/IBF/WBA/WBO 130-pound champ Alycia Baumgardner (17-1, 7 KOs) late last year.

Action was few and far between with Veyre and Persoon clinching for most of their 10-round fight. Persoon, 41, lost two points for punches to the back of the head, while Veyre, 37, also had two points deducted for clinching.

In the sparse moments when they weren’t in a clinch, Veyre’s speed and boxing ability allowed her to land the cleaner shots, but it was far outweighed by the persistent clinching throughout the fight.

The results from the other undercard bouts are listed below.
