Heavyweight Johnny Fisher has confirmed he has teamed up with trainer Tony Sims as he bids to get his career back on track.

The Romford Bull lost for the first time May 17, when Dave Allen ended their rematch with a fifth-round knockout at Copper Box.

The nature of the defeat prompted Fisher to make some changes and one of them was to split with his long-term coach Mark Tibbs.

And the 26-year-old (13-1, 11 KOs) has confirmed he has linked up with Sims at his Essex gym.

Fisher joins a stable which already houses Conor Benn, Craig Richards, Jimmy Sains and George Liddard.

“I’ve always had respect for Tony and all the boys who train here,” Fisher said. “To be among them names and involved in that I’m going to be pushed to the limits.”

Fisher is part of a bustling domestic heavyweight scene and has already set his sights on a couple of names who he could potentially face in the future.

Speaking on Counter Talk he added: “It was a bad loss but it was a loss that kicked me into gear to make a few changes. I’m optimistic about what could happen now.

“I could mope around and become a different person, but what sort of bloke are you if you do that? Just because you’ve lost a fight.

“There are some great fights to be had out there. I think of Solomon Dacres who had a great win on the Dubois-Usyk card, Frazer Clarke is rebuilding.”
