Kameda Promotions were due to hold two events this weekend on consecutive days in Kyrgyzstan. However, the events have been scrapped leaving fighters unsure of their next steps.
The Saturday show was tabbed to feature several former amateur stars like Saken Bibossinov and Ikboljon Kholdarov appearing in separate bouts, while the Sunday event would include David Jimenez facing Ayumu Sano and Luis Nunez taking on Kyonosuke Kameda.
In a press release, former three-weight world champion and founder Koki Kameda said:
"In August 2024, "3150FIGHT" and "LUSHBOMU" merged to form "3150×LUSHBOMU" (now SAIKOULUSH), marking a new beginning. LUSH, which has cultivated a new fan base with its entertainment-oriented events incorporating music and gourmet food, and 3150FIGHT, which has pioneered a new form of boxing and even made world title fights a reality, formed a partnership to complement each other's strengths, as both organizations aimed for even greater heights without being bound by existing frameworks.
"In this partnership, LUSH Co., Ltd., the owner, is responsible for managing the finances and overall operation of the events, while we, with our network in the boxing industry, handle boxing-related tasks such as matchmaking. Under this clear division of roles, we have jointly held 10 events (7 of which were world title fights). However, despite our intention to create the best possible stage by leveraging each other's strengths, we have ended up with this result, and we are filled with regret. For the fighters who were scheduled to participate, we are working diligently to quickly prepare a new stage for them so that their efforts will be rewarded."
Kameda is also due to promote a show in Aichi, Japan featuring a pair of world title fights.
IBF junior bantamweight titleholder Willibaldo Garcia defending his title against Andrew Moloney and Masamichi Yabuki putting his IBF flyweight title on the line against Rene Calixto, as well as an IBF bantamweight eliminator between Kenneth Llover and Michael Angeletti on June 6, which remains up in the air.
"Given the current situation where the Kyrgyzstan tournament has been cancelled, we are currently in urgent discussions with LUSH to determine whether it is possible to safely and reliably hold future events as SAIKOULUSH," said Kameda.
"As the founder, it pains me to be unable to definitively say "we will definitely hold the event" to the fans who have been looking forward to it and to the athletes who have been working hard every day. The current situation is by no means optimistic, but we will proceed with discussions quickly in the time remaining and will make an announcement to everyone again regarding our future plans, including whether or not the Aichi tournament will be held."
Kameda and Abema may broker a deal for the broadcast of the June 6 date with the Kyrgyzstan event moving to Thailand and potentially also being part of that show. The JBC acted quickly, giving Kameda a Saturday deadline to announce whether they will proceed with their June card with their licence being suspended if they cannot.
