Add Keyshawn Davis to the list of high-profile fighters who want a piece of Conor Benn.
Benn is a wanted man by many of the top fighters at 140 and 147 pounds. Davis didn’t just call out Benn – he said that if the fight came to fruition, he’d beat the British welterweight inside the distance.
“I will stop Conor Benn,” Davis said during the newest episode of “Inside The Ring,” which debuted Monday on DAZN. “Guarantee I will stop him. Easy money. I would love to fight Conor Benn. When I move up, I would love to fight Conor Benn or Devin Haney, but give me Conor Benn. I'm stopping him for sure.”
Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) has also been called out on social media by welterweight champions Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney and by WBO and Ring 140-pound champion Shakur Stevenson after his win over Teofimo Lopez on January 31. Benn last fought April 11, when he beat two-time junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in a 10-round, 150-pound bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Davis (14-0, 10 KOs, 1 NC) added he’d be willing to fight any of the champions at welterweight, though he doesn’t believe they’ll have him on their radar.
“I will fight all of them,“ Davis said. “But you talking about who I want to pick and fight? I will fight Conor Benn’s short ass. He is little. Like, I’m taller than him. He’s got little T. rex arms. He’s not hitting me.
“Let’s be real, at the end of the day, I’m probably not on his radar, but honestly, these fighters don’t want to fight me, bro. They know that I’m very dangerous. They know I really mean what I say. I talk a lot, I sell and I also back it up. I’m a lot to deal with, even leading up to the fight.”
Davis, The Ring’s No. 3-ranked junior welterweight, held the WBO lightweight title before moving up in weight. In his debut at 140 pounds, Davis dropped former world title challenger Jamaine Ortiz twice and stopped him with 13 seconds left in the 12th round on the Stevenson-Lopez undercard at Madison Square Garden.
Before Davis, 27, can set his sights on the welterweight division, he still has business to handle at junior welterweight. He’ll return home to rematch Nahir Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs, 1 NC) on May 16 at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, in the main event of Top Rank’s inaugural show on DAZN.
Davis beat the 30-year-old Albright, of Sicklerville, New Jersey, by majority decision in October 2023. The result was later overturned to a no-contest because Davis tested positive for marijuana, a substance banned by Texas’ Department of Licensing & Regulation.
Inside The Ring streams live every Monday on DAZN (2 p.m. ET/7 p.m. BST), providing interviews, analysis and breaking news with the sport's most captivating names. Portions of each episode will become available on The Ring’s YouTube channel after they stream live.
