Heavyweight Goliaths Jarrell Miller and Kingsley Ibeh will throw down on The Ring 6 undercard with Teofimo Lopez-Shakur Stevenson as the main event on Saturday.
Ibeh, riding an 11-fight winning streak since defeat by Jared Anderson in February 2021, welcomes his shot at the big time.
"Any time you're on a Ring Magazine card, especially at Madison Square Garden, it's a blessing and big opportunity for me," Ibeh (16-2-1, 14 KOs) told The Ring.
"Jarrell Miller is a big name, a well-known heavyweight, and this is the kind of fight that separates contenders from conversations. I see this as an opportunity to show the world who Ibeh really is — not just my power but my discipline, heart and growth as a fighter."
The 32-year-old Nigerian-born fighter, who now lives in Phoenix, has had quite the journey in between.
"I came from Nigeria with dreams, faith, and work ethic," he said. "I played college football, learned structure and discipline, and when life shifted, I adjusted.
"Selling insurance by day and boxing by night taught me balance, humility and hunger. Nothing was given to me, I've earned everything. That's what shaped me. I'm not here by accident. I's my destiny."
After a defeat to now-UFC contender Waldo Cortes-Acosta in his second fight, Ibeh rebounded with four wins before a six-round draw with Guido Vianello was followed by a stoppage loss to Anderson in a five-month span.
While some fighters may have sunk without trace, those experiences merely galvanized Ibeh.
"Those fights were lessons not losses," he said. "I was thrown into the deep end early against world-level talent, and instead of breaking I adapted.
"I went back to the basics and I'm still learning. I learned a lot about conditioning, patience, ring IQ, and belief. Fighting in Mexico hardened me, mentally and physically. Every fight since then has been about growth, and the win streak is proof that I've evolved."
Miller recently told The Ring that "nobody selling insurance is beating me," hough Ibeh responded in kind.
"I would tell him this: insurance is about preparation and protection, and I've prepared for everything he brings," he said. "I insure families in the daytime, my future and the Darkside in the ring at night.
"If I were selling him a policy for this fight, the premium would be high, because the risk is real, and the payout isn't guaranteed. This policy comes with a heavy deductible."
The highly combustible nature of this fight is added to by the shear size of both men.
"He's big but I'm athletic and also coming in at 320 pounds," he said. "It's going to be a big boy fight.
"We both like to come forward. It'll be intense from the opening bell, but the difference will be composure and skills. I plan to be smart, physical and relentless. I want it more and have God on my side."
Miller (26-1-2, 22 KOs) has been a professional since 2009. The gregarious New Yorker won 23 of his first 24, with the lone blemish an early draw in his career.
He was primed to meet Anthony Joshua for the unified heavyweight titles in June 2019 before losing his shot after failing a drugs test. Following four years in the boxing wilderness, he returned in Argentina.
The 37-year-old lost his unbeaten record in a 10th-round stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois and most recently drew over 10 rounds with Joshua's former foe Andy Ruiz on the Terence Crawford-Israil Madrimov undercard in August 2024.
"The Ring 6" is available via pay-per-view for $69.99 in the United States and £24.99 in the United Kingdom. It is included for subscribers to DAZN's Ultimate plan ($44.99 per month in the U.S.; £24.99 in the UK).
