Boxxer has high hopes for Kraus (12-0, 11 KOs) and the 25-year-old Dutch light heavyweight produced the best performance of his career on the biggest stage on which he has boxed. Given that Hemphill’s best performances have come at super middleweight, alarm bells rang when the Louisianan missed the 175-pound weight limit by a huge 7.2 pounds Friday.

He never got started against the 6-foot-4 Kraus, who seized the initiative. He couldn’t miss Hemphill (19-4, 11 KOs) with his right hand, pinned the American in a corner and kept punching until the referee stopped the fight.

It was over in just 63 seconds.

Hemphill, 30, lost by knockout for the second time in seven years as a pro.

In his first appearance since losing a highly competitive 10-round decision to Australia’s Justis Huni on April 11, British heavyweight Frazer Clarke (10-3-1, 8 KOs) stayed busy with a one-sided stoppage of Lamar Griggs (3-14-1).

Looking in excellent condition after a second training camp with Joe Gallagher, the 2020 Olympic bronze medalist immediately targeted Grigg’s soft belly and dropped him toward the end of the opening round with a left to the body.

A short accurate combination dropped Griggs again early in the second round and although he got up at the count of 9, the fight was stopped. The time was 1:41.

Hassan Azim walked to the ring with his brother, world-ranked junior welterweight contender, Adam, and quickly scored an impressive first-round stoppage of the usually solid Jack Martin.

Azim (10-0, 6 KOs), a junior middleweight from Slough, England, was far too quick and heavy handed. He floored Southminster’s Martin (10-3, 4 KOs) twice in the opening round.

Their scheduled eight-round fight was stopped after the second knockdown.

A serious shoulder injury has limited Azim’s level of activity, but he will now want to make up for lost time.

British super middleweight James Dean Fury (1-0) got his career off to a winning start with a six-round win over Dzmitry Atrokhau (16-37, 7 KOs).

With his great-uncle, Peter, in his corner, the latest Fury off the production line feinted, flicked out his jab and moved around the Belorusian, but he never put a dent in him. He also took some totally unnecessary shots in return.

The score was 60-54.

Mauro Silva outpointed Tyler Christopher in a pedestrian show-opener.

The middleweight fight never caught fire, but Silva (10-0, 4 KOs) did enough to beat a disappointing Christopher (12-1, 2 KOs) over eight rounds. The score was 78-75.
