RING Magazine champion Lauren Price is eying an August undisputed clash with Mikaela Mayer and is adamant they would sell more tickets in Cardiff than anywhere else.

Price added the IBF and WBC belts to her 147lb collection via a stunning 10-round masterclass against Tasha Jonas at the Royal Albert Hall on March 7.

The only one missing for Price now is the WBO strap, which Mayer successfully defended in her rematch with Sandy Ryan at the weekend. And, despite Claressa Shields suggesting she could fight either of the welterweight champions up at 154lbs, it appears that all roads now lead to Price-Mayer this summer.

Newport, Wales-born Price recently returned home from a two-week holiday in Mexico and will head back to training under coach Rob McCracken this month with the wheels already turning on an undisputed showdown with Mayer.

Exactly where and when is still yet to be decided but 9-0 (2) Price is hoping Mayer will be open to a UK return after her four-fight run in Britain between 2022 and 2024.

“Hopefully the conversations about that fight have already started between the two sides,” Price told The Ring Tuesday.

“After I beat Jonas I made it clear I wanted the winner of their fight. Respect where it’s due, I think she’s a great fighter and a great role model inside and outside the ring.

“Now obviously, like she said, money talks and vice versa. If I have to go to America, then they're going to have to pay me a lot more. I'd love to fight in Cardiff, in Wales.

“I think in terms of shifting tickets, us in Cardiff is a bigger draw than anywhere else. When I boxed Jessica McCaskill in my seventh fight, Ben Shalom said I was the biggest ticket seller this early in my career.

“At the Royal Albert Hall I sold the most tickets, 1,500 in total, and that’s in London so what would I do in Wales?

“People are even talking about the Cardiff City Stadium and I know it’s a big ask but potentially that could happen. Maybe she would try to avoid that so I don’t have home advantage but she’s always game to come to the UK.

“There are a lot of conversations to be had but all I know is we’re both game for the fight which is a blessing. We are looking at August so that would be a great outdoor fight in Cardiff.”

In the aftermath of Saturday’s victory over Ryan, the 21-1 (5) Mayer insisted she wanted to ‘finish what she had started’ at welterweight before entertaining a move up to fight Shields. The same goes for Price.

“I think it will always be possible for me,” Price adds. “Claressa is a double Olympic gold medallist, I'm Olympic gold medallist and we both won Olympic gold at middleweight.

“I think she is a great boxer and I'd love to share the ring with her. It's a potential fight that I love and I expect to have.

“But if I’m honest I want to become undisputed at 147lbs and I will stick here until I do that then I’ll think about becoming a multi-weight world champion.”
