Lee Reeves is in a Dublin hospital after sustaining undisclosed injuries during his 10th-round knockout defeat to Gary Cully on Saturday night.
Their fight took place at 3Arena on the undercard of Mark Chamberlain’s 10th-round knockout of previously unbeaten Dublin native Pierce O’Leary.
Reeves (16-2, 11 KOs) was knocked down at the start of the 10th and final round of a hard-fought junior welterweight fight, but he got up and complained about the legitimacy of the knockdown to referee Emile Tiedt. He continued fighting, but less than a minute later, he was floored heavily.
The bout was immediately stopped. The 31-year-old fighter from Limerick received medical attention within seconds.
Promoter Frank Warren posted the following on X:
“All our thoughts and prayers are with Lee Reeves and his family at this time as he remains in hospital. Everyone at Queensberry [Promotions] is thinking of him and we’re in constant contact with his team regarding his condition as we hope for positive news.”
