Mike Tyson’s fight against Jake Paul was a blockbuster success by all accounts.

Netflix said 65 million households globally watched Paul's unanimous decision win over Tyson. Paul's Most Valuable Promotions said the gate of $18,117,072 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, 72,300 fans contributed was the biggest gate ever for any boxing or MMA event outside of Las Vegas.

But fans seeking a turn-back-the-clock performance from Tyson at 58 were disappointed, as Tyson mostly sat back and waited for Paul to lead the attack as he landed just 18 punches in eight, two-minute rounds. Paul admitted afterward he didn’t want to hurt Tyson and eased off on the aging legend. Narratives began to form online that the fight was rigged, prompting Paul and company to issue a statement against the claim.

Tyson has been mostly quiet since the fight on November 15, and the last we heard from him was during his post-fight remarks in the ring.

But Tyson joined Fox Sports Radio on December 9 to talk about the tussle.

“I don’t remember the fight that much,” said Tyson. “I kind of blanked out a little. I haven’t watched the fight back.

“I don’t remember it. But my body was really sore [after the fight]. My chest, my stomach were really sore.

“You know what I remember? Coming back from the first round, and Jake was doing some sort of bow. That’s the last thing I remember.

“The day after the fight, I woke up and told my wife ‘why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell went on.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.”
