Mosley Jr. plans to confront 'bully' Serhi Bohachuk in first headliner

It has been a long and winding road for Shane Mosley Jr. to arrive at the opportunity he has Sunday.
He’ll face Serhii Bohachuk in a 10-round middleweight bout at Meta Apex Center in Las Vegas on Paramount+. The fact he's headlining his first fight with Zuffa Boxing makes Mosley believe his work inside the squared circle is starting to pay off.
“It represents a lot for me,” Mosley told The Ring.
“It's my first main event. I've been in the game for a very long time, and finally got a main event fight. I’m fighting a really tough opponent. It means the world to me. It shows me that people see me and my hard work.”
The opportunity to stay active played a key role in Mosley (22-5, 12 KOs) signing with Zuffa Boxing, having only boxed nine times in the last seven years.
Mosley, who is the son of International Boxing Hall of Famer Shane Mosley, turned a corner beginning in 2021, winning five straight fights, including victories over Gabriel Rosado and former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs. Then, in his most recent bout, he lost to Jesus Ramos (24-1, 19 KOs) by unanimous decision for the then-vacant interim WBC middleweight title on Dec. 6 in his last fight.
Mosley, 35, gave a good account of himself against The Ring’s No. 8-ranked middleweight, although he felt he could have been more consistent with his boxing rather than being dragged into the kind of fight Ramos preferred.
“I thought it was a decent performance,” Mosley said. “I felt like I could have done better in areas and made it a better fight. I feel like if I changed a few things, I could have won.”
Now, Mosley has his sights set on starting a new win streak against Bohachuk (27-3, 24 KOs).
The Ukrainian pressure fighter has fought once under the Zuffa banner, winning a razor-thin split decision against Radzhab Butaev on Feb. 1. Bohachuk also gave Vergil Ortiz (24-0, 22 KOs), The Ring’s No. 1-ranked junior middleweight, the toughest fight in his career, dropping him twice before losing a narrow majority decision in 2024.
Despite fighting from different stances, Bohachuk, 31, and Ramos share similarities in how they rely on pressure and volume, which Mosley believes will help him. Ultimately, if Mosley is going to earn the biggest win of his career, he’ll have to meet Bohachuk head-on.
“You confront it,” Mosley said. “The come-forward style is a bully style, and I don't like bullies. Bullies don’t like being confronted.”
