The fighting future of Nikita Tszyu is uncertain after the undefeated junior middleweight suffered injuries in a car accident, it was revealed on Tuesday.

No Limit Boxing, Tszyu's promoter, shared the following statement: "Nikita Tszyu was involved in a car accident over the weekend when the vehicle he was traveling in was struck at an intersection. He sustained minor injuries and is now recovering at home with his family. A decision regarding any return to the ring in 2025 will be made in the coming weeks."

Tszyu, the son of Hall of Fame fighter Kostya Tszyu and the younger brother of Tim Tszyu, was trending toward an all-Australian showdown against Michael Zerafa by year's end, but those plans will now be on hold as the rising star's health gets reevaluated.

Tszyu (11-0, 7 KOs) last fought in August after a one-year layoff and scored a first-round stoppage win against Lulzim Ismaili.

Zerafa (34-5, 22 KOs) fought on the same card and notched a first-round knockout win of his own.

“I’ll just keep training as if the fight’s going ahead, and I’ll just wait and see," Zerafa told Code Sports after learning about Tszyu's setback. "I’ve already been training for 12 weeks for this fight. If it’s not Nikita now, it’ll be Nikita later, maybe next year. But I want another fight before the end of the year.”
