The Ring’s No. 7-ranked lightweight is somewhat getting his wish. He’ll take on former WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on August 29 at O2 Arena in London.

The Noakes-Berinchyk bout will take place on a card headlined by heavyweights Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic. DAZN will stream the event to subscribers of its Ultimate plan, which costs $49.99 in the United States and £24.99 in the United Kingdom, and via pay-per-view for non-subscribers.

“It’s a good name,” Noakes told The Ring. “He’s a dangerous opponent and he’s been in with some of the best fighters. It’s gonna be a tricky fight, but I’m confident we’ll get the win.”

England’s Noakes, 29, got back in the win column against Benito Sanchez, who he stopped in the second round May 3 in London, following his “Fight of the Year” candidate against Abdullah Mason. Cleveland’s Mason (21-0, 18 KOs) defeated the courageous Noakes by unanimous decision November 22 on “The Ring IV: Night of the Champions” undercard November 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Berinchyk (19-1, 9 KOs) has been out of sight and out of mind since getting embarrassed by Keyshawn Davis in February 2025. Berinchyk, who scored an upset win over Emanuel Navarrete in his previous fight to win the WBO lightweight title, was attempting to defend his crown for the first time.

To say that it was a disastrous outcome for the Krasnodon, Ukraine, native would be an understatement. Davis dropped Berinchyk once in the third around and again in the fourth before stopping him at Madison Square Garden’s Infosys Theater in New York.

That fourth-round, technical-knockout defeat has some believing that Berinchyk simply isn’t that good. However, Noakes (18-1, 16 KOs) won’t downplay the former champion for one bad night at the office.

The way he sees things, it isn’t that Berinchyk is a bad fighter, but more so that Davis is merely one of the best fighters in the world.

“Keyshawn’s an anomaly,” Noakes said. “He’s different, isn’t he? I think he’s still a very good fighter. Losing to Keyshawn Davis doesn’t make him rubbish.”
