Their 10-round lightweight fight takes place on the Moses Itauma-Filip Hrgovic undercard, broadcast live worldwide on DAZN PPV or via the DAZN Ultimate Tier subscription.

Nine months have passed since Noakes and Abdullah Mason went to war for the vacant WBO 135-pound title and after 12 violent rounds, Mason earned a unanimous decision.

Noakes (18-1, 16 KOs) would much rather have had a nice new belt to show for his efforts than a few hundred pats on the back but the 29-year-old from Maidstone has taken positive aspects from the experience.

He goes into this weekend's assignment with Berinchyk (19-1, 9 KOs) confident he has what it takes to succeed at world level and believes the tough Ukrainian is an ideal opponent to prepare him for another world title fight.

“I think it’s good to know that you can come through [adversity]. I don't want another 12 hard rounds like that - God, that was hard - but it's good to know that you've done it,” he told The Ring.

“It would have been nicer to get the win but you sort of know that you're there.

“It's nice to get that build back to another fight like that [at an elite level] because that would have put more miles on the clock than you were aware of. Probably the same for him [Mason] because we were both in a bit of a bad way afterwards.”

Before the fight with Mason, those unfamiliar with Noakes viewed him as an intriguing but ultimately outmatched part in Mason’s rise.

Even those who had witnessed him impressively tear through the European scene wondered how his relentlessly aggressive style would translate to the world stage.

The ultra talented Mason undoubtedly helped by choosing to hold his feet and play Noakes’ game in the early stages but once Noakes had him in range, he was good enough to keep him there and forced the Cleveland native to the very wire.

Noakes has only boxed two rounds since he lost to Mason but his performance was so good and exciting that he remains a serious player in the division.

For the time being, Noakes accepts that his and Mason’s paths have diverged but he knows that beating Berinchyk will put him directly in line for another major fight and move him closer to a rematch.

“I mean, without trying to be too happy with losing - because I ain’t - it’s probably the best way it could have happened,” he said.

“But, listen, I think my plan - if you let your daydreams run away - is try and get another world title and then rematch him to unify. I think that’s probably the best way to do it.

“It ain’t no good me shouting out [for a rematch] now when I've got nothing to offer but if I get another world title with another body, then that'll be the first thing I want to do; unify against Abdullah Mason.

“I don’t think no one's going to begrudge seeing that fight again, are they? So that’s definitely what I'm working towards.”
