ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – One of Omari Jones’ primary missions is to remain as active as possible as the promising prospect develops as a professional.

He can continue fighting once a month if the 2024 Olympic bronze medalist makes matters as easy as he did against William Jackson on Saturday night. The Orlando, Florida native knocked out Jackson just 1:47 into the first round of their six-round junior middleweight match on the Jaron Ennis-Eimantas Stanionis undercard at Boardwalk Hall.

Jones (2-0, 2 KOs) knocked out Jackson after landing a right to Jackson’s body that dropped him to his gloves and knees. Cincinnati’s Jackson (13-6-2, 5 KOs) lost a third straight bout by knockout once he couldn’t answer referee David Frascioni’s count.

The 22-year-old Jones told DAZN’s Chris Mannix that he hoped Jackson would get up, so that he would get in more rounds Saturday.

Jones, who signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing after his Olympic appearance in Paris, won by knockout for the second time in four weeks. Jones knocked out Italy’s Alessio Mastronunzio (14-6, 4 KOs) in the second round of his pro debut March 15 at Caribe Royale Orlando in Jones’ hometown.
