Taylor was making his welterweight debut, exactly a year since his last fight.

Once regarded as a pound-for-pound boxer, Taylor has dropped his third bout in a row since suffering decision losses to Jack Catterall and Teofimo Lopez. Taylor's last win came in 2022, when he picked up a controversial decision over Catterall.
