ORLANDO — Carlos Adames delivered an impressive performance, beating Austin 'Ammo' Williams by unanimous decision at Caribe Royale.
The result marked Adames' third defense of his WBC middleweight championship and ended a 13-month layoff for boxing's lone world champion from the Dominican Republic. Adames' previous fight was a controversial split draw against Hamzah Sheeraz in a bout many believed the champion did more than enough to win.
After Saturday's wide decision victory over Williams, Adames (25-1-1, 18 KOs) shared a willingness to make fights between 154 and 168 pounds, though unifying middleweight titles remains a priority.
