Mexican Independence Day weekend has played host to some of the biggest fights in boxing.
That’ll be the case again Saturday when Ryan Garcia defends his WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Their bout will stream on Paramount+ in the United States and on DAZN across the UK and Ireland.
Garcia, 28, is making the first defense of his title. The Victorville, California, native won the belt in his last fight via unanimous decision over Mario Barrios at T-Mobile on February 21. Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) is The Ring’s No. 6 welterweight.
Benn, 29, will be fighting at welterweight for the first time since April 2022 when he scored a second-round stoppage over Chris van Heerden. The Englishman is coming off a one-sided unanimous decision over two-time 140-pound champion Regis Prograis on April 11.
Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) weighed 149.6 pounds for that 10-round, 150-pound catchweight bout.
