Golden Boy Promotions is pitting two of its top prospects against each other in a sink-or-swim matchup when Manuel Flores and Jorge Chavez headline a Golden Boy Fight Night card on July 24.
The 10-round junior featherweight fight will take place at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California and stream on DAZN.
“This is my home, my people, and my moment,” said Flores, a 26-year-old born-and-bred boxer from the Coachella Valley. “Every round, every punch, every second – I fight for them. July 24th, I’m not just fighting an opponent; I’m defending my honor and representing my roots.”
“Flores is a good fighter, and this is the type of challenge I have wanted,” said Chavez. “I know I will rise to the occasion and have an incredible performance, because winning this fight will take me to another level.”
"Gucci Manny" Flores (20-1, 16 KOs) has a furious five-fight winning streak all via stoppages inside four rounds since suffering the lone loss of his career via unanimous decision in 2023. Flores last headlined a show at Fantasy Springs in March and scored a fourth-round knockout versus Jorge Leyva.
“El Niño Dorado” Chavez (14-0, 8 KOs), a 25-year-old Mexican based in San Diego, is undefeated in his 3 ½ year pro career and will be fighting in his first career 10-rounder; four out of his last five fights have been decision wins.
“At Golden Boy, we’re in the business of building champions,” said Oscar De La Hoya. “It starts with spotting the next big stars and testing them against the best. Flores is riding the momentum of back-to-back knockout victories and Chávez is an undefeated fighter hungry to prove he’s ready for the next level.”
