In a joint statement released by Team Chapman and Vote Boxing, it was confirmed that the 32-year-old collapsed unexpectedly after sparring and was airlifted immediately to a local hospital.

There, Chapman underwent immediate emergency surgery which successfully stopped the bleeding on her brain and stabilised the swelling. She was then placed in a medically induced coma.

The statement, released on Wednesday, confirms that Chapman has been taken off sedatives “over the past day,” with treatment set to continue until she receives medically supervised repatriation to a UK hospital where rehabilitation “is expected to take some time.”

“Her doctors are doing everything they can to support her recovery and we remain hopeful as she continues to fight through this incredibly difficult time,” the statement said.

“Raven’s family are in Denmark supporting her during this incredibly difficult time. We kindly ask that their privacy is respected.

“At this stage this is the only update we are able to provide.”

Norwich-born Chapman (10-2, 3 KOs) last boxed in June when she stopped Georgia Klein in the fourth of their six-twos bout at Harrow Leisure Centre, Harrow.

That was her first fight back since two back-to-back defeats in title fights.

First she lost on points to Skye Nicolson in her challenge for the WBC featherweight title at Kingdom Arena, Jeddah in October 2024. That marked the first women’s world title fight to ever take place in Saudi Arabia.

She was then outpointed by Kariss Artingstall in their clash for the vacant British title at London’s Royal Albert Hall in March last year and since returned to winning ways at lightweight.
