Even before Raymond Ford officially moved up in weight, he believed he was the best 130-pounder in the world. These last two beatings he dished out, only solidified his thinking.

“I feel like I’m the best in this division,” said Ford on Boxing Social. “I feel like nobody in this division can beat me.”

Ford doesn’t enjoy thinking of the time he spent as a featherweight. Was it fun winning a world title? Of course. But those power-zapping weight cuts were brutal. He doesn’t like to admit it, but he still believes that was the reason he came up short against Nick Ball.

At this point, that’s just water under the bridge. The extra weight has made Ford look even better than normal. Look no further than his lopsided victory over Thomas Mattice last weekend.

After acclimating himself nicely and proving that he can hang with just about anyone, Ford (17-1-1, 8 KOs) will continue to talk smack to the rest of his competition. If you want him to zip his lips for good and quiet the noise, you’ll have to jump in the ring with him.

“It’s up to these guys to try and prove me wrong.”

Although it’s been fun taking out a few lower-level names, Ford wants to go head-up with the big boys. O’Shaquie Foster, Lamont Roach, and Emanuel Navarrete all have something he wants, a world title. With that, he wants either of those names next.

Ford, admittedly, can be a bit brazen and ornery when he speaks. Normally, he doesn’t care how he comes across but this time around, he took a bit of a soft but stern approach when issuing his call out.

“I wanna fight the best,” continued Ford. “Don’t take it as disrespect. I just wanna fight the best. I want my shot at the world titles.”
