One thing's for certain ahead of Reece Bellotti and Michael Gomez Jr's British and Commonwealth junior-lightweight title fight on Saturday night in Manchester - Bellotti still isn't happy.

The pair were originally supposed to clash on the Jack Catterall-Regis Prograis card last October, but Gomez Jr (21-1, 6 KOs) withdrew from the bout on fight night, just hours before ring walks, citing illness.

After the news broke, Bellotti (19-5, 14 KOs) fumed on the live DAZN broadcast and lambasted Gomez Jr's reasons for backing out of the fight, questioning his integrity in the process.

But four months later they're finally set to do battle on the Jack Catterall-Arnold Barboza Jr card, which takes place this Saturday at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester, live on DAZN.

When Bellotti and Gomez Jr met at Thursday's press conference, however, it was clear the Watford man hadn't let things go.

It's fair to say he remains skeptical of Gomez Jr's illness back in October.

Gomez Jr said: “I met my team at the arena on fight night. Me and my manager had a back-and-forth. He wasn’t happy with the way I was and took it upon himself to get the doctor involved.”

But Bellotti, fiery as ever, clapped back by questioning why Gomez Jr didn't pull out sooner.

The 34-year-old asked: “Why didn’t your team see you all day?"

“You should sack them. Why wouldn’t your team check on you in the morning if they know you’re not right? Your story has holes in it – that’s all I’m saying.

“I’m not denying that you were ill, but you knew you were ill way before [fight night].”

Bellotti originally won the Commonwealth title against Aqib Fiaz in October 2023 before going on to decision Liam Dillon to pick up the British belt.

Since defending both titles against Levi Giles last summer, Bellotti has had to wait patiently for his grudge fight with Gomez Jr, whose only loss came against Henry James in 2019.
