The lineup to support the Shakur Stevenson vs. Teofimo Lopez main event at Madison Square Garden on is incredibly strong.
A pair of world title fights and the return of a former champion will be on the undercard for “The Ring 6,” which is headlined by Ring champion Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson on Jan. 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York on DAZN.
The Ring announced that Carlos Adames will defend his WBC middleweight title against longtime contender Austin “Ammo” Williams. Former WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis will make his foray into the 140-pound division against former title challenger Jamaine Ortiz and interim WBC featherweight champion Bruce Carrington will face Carlos Castro for the vacant WBC world title.
Also on the undercard is a heavyweight clash between Jarrell Miller (26-1-2, 22 KOs) and Kingsley Ibeh (16-2-1, 14 KOs) and a junior welterweight bout between Ziyad Almaayouf (7-0-1, 1 KO) and Kevin Castillo (5-2-1).
Adames (24-1-1, 18 KOs) will be making his return to the ring for the first time in almost a year since a controversial split draw against Hamzah Sheeraz in February. Adames, of Elias Pina, Dominican Republic, will be making the third defense of his title.
Williams (19-1, 13 KOs) has won three straight fights since his 11th-round stoppage loss to Sheeraz in 2024. In his last outing, the southpaw from Milwaukee turned back a game Ivan Vazquez, stopping him in the ninth round. Vazquez was a late replacement for Etinosa Oliha.
Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) will be making his debut at 140 pounds after he lost his WBO lightweight title on the scales before his first scheduled title defense against Edwin De Los Santos on June 7. The bout, which was set to take place in Davis’ hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, ended up being scrapped altogether because he missed weight by over four pounds.
In his last fight, Davis delivered a dominant performance, stopping former champion Denys Berinchyk to become the WBO lightweight champion on Feb. 14.
Ortiz (20-2-1, 10 KOs) has won three straight fights since losing by unanimous decision in his lone opportunity at a world title against Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs). Ortiz, of Worcester, Massachusetts, made quick work of late-replacement Ambiorix Bautista, stopping him in three rounds on Aug. 23.
Davis is ranked No. 1 by the WBO at 140 pounds, while Ortiz is ranked in the top 11 by all four sanctioning bodies.
Carrington (16-0, 9 KOs) will have his first chance at a world title against Castro. The Brooklyn-based featherweight is coming off a one-sided unanimous decision over the previously undefeated Mateus Heita to win the interim WBC featherweight belt on July 26.
Castro (30-3, 14 KOs) of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, will be fighting for the first time since his split-decision loss to former two-division champion Stephen Fulton in 2024. Castro began his career with 27 consecutive wins before losing consecutive fights to former champions Luis Nery and Brandon Figueroa in 2022.
Fulton (23-3, 8 KOs) vacated the WBC featherweight title after his unanimous decision loss to O’Shaquie Foster on Dec. 6.
