A unified title bout has been added to the docket for MVPW 05.
MVP announced Thursday morning that IBF and WBO middleweight champion Desley Robinson will face Tamm Thibeault in the co-main event August 8 at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The card, which will air on ESPN in the United States, is headlined by IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO bantamweight champ Cherneka Johnson (19-2, 8 KOs) versus Dina Thorslund (24-0, 9 KOs), who still owns The Ring bantamweight title.
Robinson (12-3, 4 KOs), of Mackay, Queensland, Australia, has won seven straight fights since her last defeat in March 2024. Robinson, 38, is coming off a unanimous-decision victory over Canada’s Mary Spencer (10-4, 6 KOs) on May 30 in El Paso, Texas.
She won the then-vacant IBF 160-pound title in December 2024 by unanimous decision over Kaye Scott. She then became a unified champion when she beat Chloe Chaos (7-2-2, 3 KOs) via unanimous decision to win the WBO belt in April 2025.
The 29-year-old Thibeault (4-0, 3 KOs) is a two-time Olympian for Canada. The Saint-Georges, Quebec, Canada, native has won three straight bouts by knockout and most recently recorded a first-round stoppage of Italy’s Cristina Mazzotta (1-2) on September 27 in Montreal.
Dallas’ Shurretta Metcalf (15-5-1, 2 KOs, 1 NC), The Ring’s No. 2 bantamweight contender, and Amanda Galle (12-1-1, 1 KO), of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, will also square off in an eight-round junior bantamweight bout on the Johnson-Thorslund undercard.
