The Ring’s No. 9 welterweight grabbed his second victory of 2026, scoring a wide unanimous decision against former unified junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez on the Ryan Garcia-Conor Benn undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Beating someone with Ramirez's accomplishments fills Rocha with pride, but at 29 the southpaw wants what he believes has been earned.

"Anyone in the top 10, I want a world champion," Rocha said when asked about who he wanted next in his post-fight interview. "I want the Garcia-Benn winner. It's something I want, have dreamt of, just being a world champion. I just want [to fight] any world champion out there."

Garcia is naturally the most sought-after name at welterweight, having made his first title defense a quick and vicious one to stop Conor Benn inside two rounds. The Ring's No. 1 welterweight Devin Haney holds the WBO crown, while Liam Paro (IBF) and Teofimo Lopez (WBA) are the 147-pound division's other champions.

Rocha (27-2-1, 16 KOs) is the WBO's No. 8 contender, while being ranked outside the top 10 by the remaining three major sanctioning bodies. He believes one of those beltholders will eventually give him the opportunity he seeks but in the meantime, wants to shore up some holes within his game.

Judges Max DeLuca and Kermit Bayless both scored the fight 98-91 in his favor, though he doesn't believe he was quite as dominant against a competitive, determined veteran who has now lost each of his last three appearances.

"I thought it was a little too wide, 96-94 or 97-93 would've been better. I definitely think I won the fight but thought it was a lot closer, don't agree with some of the judges' scorecards. Hats off to Jose. He comes to fight every single time. That guy is a warrior."
