Milan Prat will make the first defense of his European junior middleweight title against veteran Sam Eggington.
The EBU had initially called for Prat to face Reda Kham. However, Kham decided against taking the fight and the EBU went down their rankings and landed at Eggington.
Both camps have until March 3 to come to terms before the fight goes to purse bids.
Prat (29-1, 23 KOs) represented France internationally as an amateur before turning professional in October 2019. He caught the eye on his way up winning the EBU title against Stephen Danyo (KO 2) in November 2022.
The 26-year-old was stopped two fights later by Slawa Spomer (TKO 10) in October 2023 but has rebounded with eight wins before regaining his EBU title against Jan Helin (KO 9) on November 22.
Meanwhile, Eggington (36-9, 20 KOs) has been a professional since 2012. The Birmingham native claimed British and Commonwealth and European welterweight titles. During an impressive stretch he scored wins over crosstown rival Frankie Gavin (TKO 8) and former two-weight world champion Paulie Malignaggi (KO 8).
However, the 32-year-old's form up at 154 pounds has been mixed. He's lost to former world champion Liam Smith (TKO 5) and fellow Brit Ted Cheeseman (UD 12). But he stayed relevant, notably beating world titleholder Carlos Molina (UD 12) and Bilel Jkitou (SD 12). He stopped Joe Pigford (TKO 5) and gave Abass Baraou a good test, losing a 12-round majority decision when they contested the vacant EBU 154-pound title in March 2024. He returned to the winners circle by beating Lee Cutler (TD 9) last April.
