Savannah Marshall was sure she'd have a spot on Boxxer's upcoming all-female show on March 7th at the Royal Albert Hall in London - but not all has gone to plan.
Marshall (13-1, 10 KOs) hasn't fought in a boxing ring since a July 2023 win over Franchon Crews-Dezurn (9-2, 1 NC, 2 KOs), where she picked up the Undisputed Super Middleweight title.
She has since taken a break away from the sport to compete in MMA, where she stopped Mirela Vargas in her debut with the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
Before the Crews-Dezurn fight, Marshall fought and lost to Claressa Shields (16-0, 3 KOs) on Boxxer's first all-female card in October 2022, a show which sold out London's O2 Arena and drew over two million viewers on Sky Sports in the UK.
Last month, she was invited down to the Natasha Jonas-Lauren Price press conference in London and worked the live stream coverage for Sky.
It was assumed her fight would be announced, or that there would be word about her participation on the card.
But Marshall says her planned fight will no longer take place.
She wrote: “I was told I was fighting on the March 7th card on the all-female card for Boxxer. Opponent agreed I have been in camp for the past few weeks.
"I was also asked to travel to London for the press conference where I was told my fight would be announced.
“Instead, I was sidelined and left feeling humiliated and confused. I honestly thought I would have been treated with a bit more respect. Due to disputes with Boxxer I WILL NOT be fighting on March 7th.”
Boxxer's response statement reads: “We made Savannah Marshall an offer to fight on March 7th but were unable to reach an agreement with her management. We’ve always had a great working relationship with Savannah, we’ve shared some incredible experiences, and we hope to work together again in the future."
While Jonas (16-2-1, 9 KOs) and Price (8-0, 2 KOs) will headline the Sky Sports card, with the former's WBC/IBF titles and the latter's WBA/RING titles on the line, there are three other fights currently scheduled.
Caroline Dubois (10-0-1, 5 KOs) will feature in the co-main event against Bo Mi Re Shin (18-2-3, 10 KOs), defending her WBC Lightweight title in the process.
Karriss Artingstall (6-0, 1 KO) and Raven Chapman (9-1, 2 KOs) will compete in a cross-roads bout further down the card.
The latest addition to the bill is debutant Cindy Ngamba's clash with Kirstie Bavington (9-2-2, 2 KOs) for the European title.
