Fans, media pundits, and those who only tuned in for the night - are still arguing.

Gervonta Davis and his legion of fans believe he should have been given the win over Lamont Roach. They point to his poise in the first few rounds and the deadly blows he landed in the second half. From their viewpoint, Roach should be proud that he wasn’t KO’d but a moral victory and an actual one, are two different things.

Roach’s growing fanbase sees it differently. The constant pressure, smooth defense, and effective counterpunching, all of it should have resulted in a win.

Since both men were forced to settle for a draw, those debates will continue from now till the end of time. Recently, however, Roach’s side of the argument gained an extra voice.

Sergio Mora, before things played out the way they did, was firmly on Davis’ side. With that said, he had a chance to watch Roach work for 36 effective minutes. Now that he has, he’s flipping sides.

“Lamont Roach won that fight,” said Mora to FightHype.com. “He deserved it, he fought great.”

From a fan’s point of view, boxing is simple. Who gets punched in the face more? Did someone bleed? Did anybody get hurt? Those are the vague parameters. Mora, having fought at the highest level for years, knows it's deeper than that.

When push comes to shove, boxing will test your manhood, how bad you want it, and force you to bite down and fight through adversity. All of those bullet points, and much more, were checked in Roach's favor according to Mora. Simply put, when Davis attempted to assert himself and prove that he was the big bad bully, Roach fought back.

“He didn’t take no shit man," continued Mora. "It was just a great performance by Roach. It’s too bad that the judges didn’t believe him.”
