Shakur Stevenson isn’t a fan of the recent news surrounding Gervonta Davis, but he understands it.

A few short days ago, Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) said his next opponent would Jake Paul. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is set to face Davis on November 14 in Atlanta, Georgia, at State Farm Arena in an exhibition.

Skillwise Davis has the edge, but the weight difference matters. Davis is the WBA’s 135-pound champion, while Paul campaigns as a cruiserweight and recently moved to heavyweight for a one-off against Mike Tyson in 2024.

Davis, despite being small in stature, is known for his pernicious power.

Stevenson calls Davis one of the hardest hitters he’s ever seen. However, even if he connects cleanly, he doesn’t expect Paul to fold.

“That guy's too big, I don't think he’s gonna knock him out,” Stevenson said to TMZ Sports. “I don’t see him knocking him out. I see him outboxing him. I can see Tank just outboxing him and making it real easy.”

Some are still trying to figure out how we got here. Davis had appeared to be on the verge of facing Lamont Roach in an immediate rematch after they'd fought to a controversial draw on March 1. Although a sequel was on course, at the last minute, Davis turned his attention to Paul.

After making it look fairly easy against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28 in Anaheim, California, Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) started searching for his next move.

Before a fight with Davis was finalized, he was first in line to face Anthony Joshua, the former unified heavyweight champion. That fell through as a deal with Davis was consummated.

Stevenson isn't friends with Davis, but for those who believe he will struggle against a much larger man, think again.

“Size will play some part in the fight, but no. I doubt that’s gonna be an issue or a problem,” Stevenson said. “There’s levels.”
