No one enjoys fighting more than Keyshawn Davis. Whether it’s in the ring or even if it just so happens to take place elsewhere, Davis is always down for a good scrap. But, the former Olympic silver medalist isn’t willing to fight any and everyone.
In a perfect world, Davis would love nothing more than to get his hands on the likes of Gervonta Davis, William Zepeda, and Andy Cruz. However, The Ring’s No. 5 ranked lightweight hates to break it to everyone but a showdown against Shakur Stevenson simply won’t happen, despite the two competing in the same division.
Although they’re both highly ranked and highly skilled, Davis and Stevenson have watched each other grow. They’ve also been each other’s biggest cheerleader.
So, from his point of view, the dollar figure is extraneous. With that said, the former Olympic silver medalist turned contender does want to placate his fans to a certain degree.
“We can do an exhibition,” said Davis on a self-recorded Instagram live. “That’s what we can do. We can go YouTube style on these dudes real quick.”
Stevenson, the No. 3 ranked lightweight by The Ring and current WBC titlist, is coming off a fairly inactive 2024, making just one appearance. His 2025 figures to be a bit more active as he’ll return next month against Floyd Schofield, February 22.
Davis, on the other hand, is hoping to join Stevenson. Not in the ring, but as a fellow champion. The 25-year-old is finalizing a deal that would see him take on current WBO belt holder and Ring’s No. 6 ranked lightweight, Denys Berinchyk the previous weekend.
With world titles on his mind, Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) would prefer any mentions of him taking on Stevenson to cease. Talk of an exhibition though, won’t harm either man’s record. It also has the potential to generate millions of dollars. So, with perpetual wads of cash possibly waiting for them to merely move around the ring, Davis reiterated his desire to make it happen. Not now, but eventually.
“Who’s not gonna watch? They still gonna watch the exhibition. I’m a let you know when the time is right.”
