Sheeraz anticipates Alvarez will prove he still has plenty left in the tank when he faces Mbilli for his WBC super middleweight title. Mbilli will make the first defense of his belt on October 31 in Saudi Arabia on DAZN PPV.

A key factor for the WBO super middleweight titleholder is Mbilli’s style compared to Alvarez’s last two opponents. Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) is a relentless pressure fighter, whereas the two-time undisputed super middleweight champion is coming off fights against much more defensive fighters in William Scull and Terence Crawford.

"I don't see it being the end of Canelo, and I'll tell you why,” Sheeraz said on the Mr. Versace Podcast with Ring CEO Rick Reeno. “Canelo's last two performances have been against, I wouldn't say negative but slick fighters. William Scull, very negative. He'd make anyone look bad. Stylistically, it wasn't ideal for Canelo. Crawford is Crawford. He's a special fighter. You could put anyone in with him, and he's dealing with him. It's as simple as that.

“I truly believe Mbilli is tailor-made for Canelo. He doesn't move his feet. He comes forward. He's there to be hit, and I believe Canelo will get him out of there late. I think if he doesn't get him out of there late, he'll have a very comfortable unanimous decision victory, but in an active fight.”

Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs), The Ring’s No. 1 super middleweight, beat Scull by unanimous decision to become the undisputed super middleweight champion for a second time in May 2025 in Saudi Arabia. The four-division champion Mexican lost his titles by unanimous decision to Crawford in September 2025 in Las Vegas.

Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs), The Ring’s No. 3 super middleweight, last fought to a split draw against Lester Martinez in a 10-round fight on the undercard of Crawford-Alvarez. The 31-year-old from Cameroon, who is based out of Montreal, retained the interim WBC super middleweight title with the draw against Martinez before getting elevated to full champion after Crawford retired in December.

Alvarez, 36, and Mbilli were originally scheduled to fight September 12. A amily matter affected the start of Alvarez’s training camp and led to it being pushed back. Sheeraz, The Ring's No. 9 super middleweight, believes the lengthy layoff will also play to Alvarez’s benefit.

Alvarez underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow last October.

“I feel like he would have healed, and he would come into this fight fresh,” Sheeraz said. “He'd be wanting it mentally, physically, and I believe he'll get the job done, for sure. I think he'll look good doing it as well.”
