Skye Nicolson will defend her interim WBC 122-pound title against Mariah Turner on April 29 at The Melbourne Pavilion in Australia.
The 10-round all-Australian bout will be broadcast on DAZN worldwide outside of Australia and will be Matchroom Boxing’s first show on Kayo SPORTS in Australia.
“Mariah is a quality fighter, and I’m expecting a tough challenge,” Nicolson said via a press release. “But every time I step into the ring, I level up, and I plan on making a real statement on April 29 in Melbourne and setting up the mega fights in the division for 2026.”
In the co-main event, Australian junior welterweight Jake Wyllie (18-2-1, 16 KOs) faces countryman Ibrahim Balla (17-3, 7 KOs) in a 10-round bout. Undefeated Australian heavyweight Teremoana Teremoana (9-0, 9 KOs) will also be on the card.
Nicolson (15-1, 3 KOs) has won three consecutive fights since losing her WBC featherweight title by split decision to Tiara Brown in March of last year. The 30-year-old southpaw from Queensland, Australia, defeated Yuliahn Luna by unanimous decision to win the interim WBC title in her last bout, on Dec. 13 in Stockton, California.
Nicolson’s last two fights have been at 122 pounds after fighting at 126 for most of her first 14 bouts.
Turner (12-1, 6 KOs), of South Auckland, New Zealand, enters the contest on a seven-fight win streak. She beat previously undefeated Stephanie Lee Cutting by unanimous decision in her last bout, on Nov. 7.
“This is the biggest challenge of my career so far and the kind of opportunity that dreams are made of,” Turner said.
