Subriel Matias and Dalton Smith made weight Friday for their 140-pound title fight Saturday at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.
Smith (18-0, 13 KOs) looked confident as he stepped onto the scales for his first crack at a world title. The 28-year-old from Sheffield, England, weighed 139.6. Moments later, Matias, the WBC champion from Puerto Rico, gave a menacing look as he came in at the exact limit.
Matias (23-2, 22 KOs) recently began his second title reign with a close majority decision win over Alberto Puello last July. Smith earned his opportunity with wins over Mathieu Germain and Walid Ouizza.
