No stage is bigger for a boxer to make their professional debut than on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford on Sept. 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Netflix.
Sultan Al-Mohammed will get to live that out.
Al-Mohammed, of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will make his pro debut against Martin Caraballo on the Alvarez-Crawford card. Making his debut on the same card as the biggest fight of this era, and to represent his father and his country is one he isn’t taking for granted.
“I’m very excited for this match,” Al-Mohammed told The Ring. “It’s a great opportunity.“
Al-Mohammed is a decorated amateur, having become a two-time champion across six domestic tournaments, including the Youth and Junior Saudi National Championship and Junior Western Region Championship.
He got into boxing at 6 years old because of his father, Khalid Al-Mohammed, and was recruited to the Mike Tyson Boxing Club by head of Riyadh Season Turki Alalshikh, who supported him as he climbed the ranks as an amateur.
“My Father took me to the gym, and he taught me the basics,” Al-Mohammed said. “At first, I didn’t like boxing. I just boxed for my father first. When I started to box in competitions like this, and when I won, and I saw all the people rooting for me, then I loved boxing and I loved the feeling.”
Now, the support from his father and Alalshikh, as well as his success, have culminated into this as he heads to Las Vegas to face Caraballo (0-0-1).
“[I'll show] good boxing skills and a beautiful finish,“ Al-Mohammed said.
