Teofimo Lopez's next move will be confirmed within the next two weeks, and it will be a "bigger announcement than people think."
That was the revelation made by Lopez's manager during an interview with The Ring's Youtube channel on Monday afternoon.
The Ring Magazine's No. 4 junior welterweight has not boxed since he lost his WBO world title and Ring championship to Shakur Stevenson in Madison Square Garden on January 31.
But talks regarding Lopez's next move have been ongoing, with manager Keith Connolly confirming he has held meetings with Zuffa Boxing and DAZN about where the 28-year-old will land next.
The former two-weight Ring champion is on the verge of announcing his decision.
Connolly told The Ring: "We are working on Teofimo Lopez’s return right now, as we speak.
"I think you could hear some huge news about him in the next week and a half to two weeks."
When asked whether a move to Dana White's Zuffa is the preferred path, Connolly only said it would be a surprise.
"There have been talks with Zuffa," he said.
"There have been talks with DAZN as well but we know what direction we’re heading in now. There will be a bigger announcement than people think coming."
Before the defeat to Stevenson, the Brooklyn-born Lopez (22-2, 13 KOs) was on a six-fight winning streak that stretched back to his shocking loss by George Kambosos in 2021, which was his final fight at lightweight.
He is expected to campaign as a welterweight and has been linked with a fight against WBA 147-pound champion Rolando "Rolly" Romero.
