Over the next few months, Crawford won't be missing any meals. He'll also be putting in a bit more work in the weight room. But, no matter how much muscle he puts on, Canelo Alvarez, who he’ll be facing in September, figures to have a size advantage.
It's clichè, but Terence Crawford is hoping it's true.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Over the next few months, Crawford won't be missing any meals. He'll also be putting in a bit more work in the weight room. But, no matter how much muscle he puts on, Canelo Alvarez, who he’ll be facing in September, figures to have a size advantage.
You've heard it before, right? There are weight classes for a reason and size ultimately matters. Crawford, though, doesn't entirely believe that. Will Alvarez's size and power present him with a ton of issues when he heads over to the super middleweight division?
Well, the only definitive way to answer that question is to get in there and find out.
"That's why we fight the fight," Crawford explained to FightHub TV. "We all gonna see if the weight is gonna make a difference or not."
Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) is incredibly happy but also pretty annoyed. His recent win over William Scull allowed him to become a two-time undisputed champion. However, it hasn’t been all positive. In fact, the bad has somewhat outweighed the good.
Alvarez is known for his ability to track his opponents down in the ring, apply pressure and inflict a ton of damage. Scull, on the other hand, studied enough tape to know what he was up against.
Throughout their May 3showdown, Scull used perpetual movement, something Alvarez and fans weren't fond of. So while the Mexican star still managed to get the win, his reputation took a bit of a hit.
Despite looking a bit slower than usual, Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) isn't putting too much stock into it. Alvarez, from his point of view, is one of the most dangerous men in the world and his popularity speaks for itself.
"Canelo's the face of boxing," Crawford said. "He's the best fighter for Terence Crawford and the biggest fight. That's why I wanna take the opportunity to share the ring with another great."
