They headline a super middleweight bout for Zuffa Boxing 9.

Berlanga (23-2, 18 KOs) desperately needs a win. He’s lost two of his last three, albeit to Canelo Alvarez and Hamzah Sheeraz, with the latter coming in a brutal KO. It’s been a while since he’s opened his career in 2016 with 16 consecutive stoppages.

All of Butler’s losses have come via stoppage, which sets the stage for an intriguing matchup. Butler (38-5-1, 32 KOs) also has won his last four bouts by KO and doesn’t mind taking a punch to land his own.

Berlanga: “This is the start of my comeback story. So many people are counting me out. Remember, I went 12 rounds with a legend like Canelo Alvarez. I went toe-to-toe with him. I took his best shot and he took mine, so I showed the level I’m on.

“But after the Hamzah Sheeraz fight, people want to throw dirt on my name and act like I’m not who I say I am. Sheeraz isn’t a better fighter than me. And neither is Steven Butler. He isn’t on my level. I’m gonna go out there and prove it in front of my fans on my home turf.

“Once I get this guy out of there, I’ll be on to bigger and better things. There’s a lot of big fights out there for me and I’m ready for all of those guys, but first things first, I got to beat Butler. I’m gonna show that Edgar Berlanga is back and better than ever. And I’m also gonna prove to all of my haters that I will become a world champion.”

Butler: “I don’t like this guy. He just talks so much. He says he’s gonna do this and he’s gonna do that. We’ll see.

“I’ve prepared myself for everything he brings to the table and I’m ready for anything. Everyone keeps talking about his power, but people forget that I have a lot of power, too. I have almost twice as many knockouts as he does.

“So when people say that this fight will end in a knockout, I agree, but it won’t be from who they’re thinking.”

Berlanga, at -370, is a comfortable favorite according to DraftKings. Butler comes in at +275. A draw is +1400.

Richardson Hitchins, the undefeated former IBF junior welterweight champion, makes his 147-pound debut against Ricardo Salas in a classic pure boxer vs. an aggressor with nothing to lose.

Also, middleweight contender and former title challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko (16-6, 11 KOs) looks to pick up some momentum as he takes on Jalil Hackett (12-1, 9 KOs). He is a bit older at 40 years old, but believes he’s far too seasoned for the 23-year-old prospect.
