Top Rank has finally found a broadcasting home.
On Wednesday, Top Rank and DAZN officially announced a multi-year deal.
Top Rank President Todd duBoef said the deal was a year in the making. WBO lightweight champion Abdullah Mason, former WBO 135-pound beltholder Keyshawn Davis, WBC featherweight titleholder Bruce Carrington and Emiliano Vargas, The Ring's Prospect of the Year for 2025, were in attendance representing the promotional company.
Top Rank's roster also includes unified WBA, WBO 154-pound champion Xander Zayas and IBF lightweight champion Raymond Muratalla, among other champions and contenders.
"When we got into a room, we actually realized we were like-minded," duBoef said. “On how we wanted to present, grow the sport and how we wanted to put the best foot forward for the fans. So everything came together."
DAZN is also the broadcasting home for Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions.
Top Rank's longstanding partnership with ESPN concluded July 26 with a card headlined by Zayas' unanimous decision win over Jorge Garcia to win the then-vacant 154-pound WBO title. While pursuing options to secure a broadcasting deal, the Vegas-based company streamed cards on Facebook, Tubi and Top Rank Classics, among other services.
The promotional outfit also sent some of its top fighters to different promotions across various networks. The featured quartet in attendance on Wednesday most recently boxed on DAZN, winning their respective bouts.
On The Ring 6 card January 31 in New York, Carrington (17-0, 10 KOs) scored a ninth-round stoppage of Carlos Castro to win the vacant WBC featherweight world title, before Davis (14-0, 10 KOs) stopped one-time title challenger Jamaine Ortiz with seconds left in the 12th round of his 140-pound debut.
"We've been kicking ass these past few months," Carrington said. "I really do believe we are going to bring nothing but excitement and continuous generational talent year in and year out. I feel like it's the perfect puzzle piece in order to continue to make boxing great."
Top Rank-backed Emanuel Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) became the unified IBF and WBO junior lightweight champion on DAZN in his last fight, an 11th-round stoppage of Eduardo Nunez on Feb. 28 in Phoenix.
Vargas boxed in the evening's co-main event, stopping Agustin Ezequiel Quintana after nine rounds. Mason won the vacant WBO lightweight belt November 22 with a thrilling points win over Britain's previously-unbeaten Sam Noakes. The 21-year-old southpaw from Bedford, Ohio, hopes his next bout is a unification.
"I'm bringing the smoke to DAZN, we're going to have a lot of fun," Mason said. "I can't wait to collect a lot more of these [belts]. From here on, I'm looking to collect more titles and whatever way they come, I'm ready to grab them all up."
