On Thursday, Turki Alalshikh was appointed President of the Saudi Boxing Federation for the 2024–2028 electoral term. The appointment adds yet another dimension to Alalshikh’s expanding portfolio as one of the key architects of Saudi Arabia’s cultural and sporting evolution.

As Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Alalshikh has been central to the Kingdom’s sweeping efforts to stamp itself as a global entertainment hub. His initiatives are closely aligned with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s strategic plan to diversify its economy and enhance its cultural standing on the world stage.

At the heart of this transformation is Riyadh Season, a six-month festival that debuted in 2019 and has since evolved into one of the largest cultural events globally. The 2024 edition brought a mix of sports, music, food, and live entertainment to millions of visitors, drawing global celebrities.

Alalshikh’s recent appointment as President of the Saudi Boxing Federation comes on the heels of years of strategic involvement in the sport. Under his leadership, the Kingdom has hosted some of boxing’s most high-profile matches, including the historic heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk—the first undisputed title fight in over two decades.

His efforts have earned him significant praise in sporting circles, with many labeling him “the most influential man in boxing.”
