The quiet Turner’s fists make much more impact than his words, but the 24-year-old contender from Liverpool is clearly drawing confidence from his lengthening list of early finishes.

Gregorio (14-0-1, 14 KOs) has a similarly glossy record to Turner (14-0, 13 KOs). He will travel to Manchester believing that he can win what looks like a sure-fire shootout on DAZN’s undercard beneath the Joshua Buatsi-Willy Hutchinson rematch.

Turner acknowledged the threat he’ll face, yet he is sure of racking up another spectacular win.

“He’s a good opponent,” Turner said a press conference to promote their fight recently. “I studied him a little bit and I want to fight the best and I want to be in 50-50 fights. I believe I get him out of there and I knock him out. He’s had 15 fights. He’s drawn one, won 14 and knocked 14 out so, yeah, he’s a good opponent, but I believe I'm a different animal.”

It is 12 months since Turner encountered his first real resistance when Argentina’s Nicolas Muguruza stood up to his aggression, returned fire and won some rounds from him. Eventually, Turner’s power told and he got Muguruza out of the way in the sixth round.

He has since scored two wins, but he also made some significant changes after getting past Nicaragua’s Juan Carlos Urbina in February.

He decided to leave Joe McNally’s gym and spent some time training in California before returning home to Liverpool. He moved across his hometown to the surging Four Corner Gym, where he trains with John Gillies.

Turner is ranked at No. 6 by the WBA, No. 10 by the IBF and No.11 by the WBO. He believes beating Gregorio will edge him closer to a major title fight.

“I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far, but I want a world title and I’m not far away from getting a world title,” Turner said. “I’m just looking forward to fighting and getting the job done and another knockout.”
