But now Fury, 36, has suggested a time and place for the two most dominant heavyweights of the era to fight for a third time. Beneath a picture of the two of them, he wrote: "April 18 2026 Wembley Stadium, the trilogy!"
Tyson Fury has teased the date and venue for his trilogy fight with Oleksandr Usyk after it was revealed on Wednesday that he will return to boxing in 2026.
The two-time heavyweight champion of the world has not fought since he was beaten for a second successive time by Usyk in Riyadh on Dec. 21.
Within a month, the Gypsy King announced his retirement in a social media post and has consistently insisted he has no intention of coming back to the sport despite the potential riches on offer for a fight with Anthony Joshua.
But earlier this week he admitted he would be open to a return if it meant he could get his chance for revenge over Usyk, The Ring heavyweight champion and holder of the WBA, WBO and WBC belts. "Usyk," Fury said. "I want my revenge in England. That’s the one I want."
Then, on Wednesday, the Head of Riyadh Season Turki Alalshikh revealed on social media that Fury has promised to box during Riyadh Season in 2026 — with Usyk in his sights.
"The Gypsy King will be back!!!" Alalshikh wrote. "I talked with him and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026. We have a rabbit to hunt!"
"Rabbit" was what Fury had famously labelled Usyk during the build-up to their first fight, which he lost via split decision at Kingdom Arena in May 2024. It was the first defeat of Fury's professional career and seven months later Usyk repeated the trick, this time via UD, in the same ring.
But now Fury, 36, has suggested a time and place for the two most dominant heavyweights of the era to fight for a third time. Beneath a picture of the two of them, he wrote: "April 18 2026 Wembley Stadium, the trilogy!"
For now, Usyk already has his hands full with a different outing at England's national stadium as he is preparing to face IBF champion Daniel Dubois, The Ring's No.2 ranked heavyweight, on July 19.
Usyk has already beaten Dubois via ninth-round stoppage when they met at Stadion Wroclaw in Poland in August 2023. He is a heavy favourite to make it 2-0 against the Londoner and a victory would clear the path for a third fight with Fury.
