An exhibition match between Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr., originally announced in September for the spring of this year, has finally found some clarity.
After originally planned around the dates of April 25 and May 30, and with few details and updates revealed along the way, event organizers announced Wednesday that Tyson and Mayweather are still set to square off in the fall as Tyson recovers from a broken right hand.
CSI Sports, which is staging the event, said a date, venue, and broadcast details “will be announced shortly.” One location that has been a frontrunner in recent months to host the event is the Congo.
Tyson, who turns 60 next month, was seen in a cast as early as March during an amateur boxing event he hosted in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, 49, has a scheduled exhibition against Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis on June 27 in Athens, and his on-again, off-again professional comeback and rematch against Manny Pacquiao appears to be a go for September 25 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) last laced up the gloves in November 2024 and suffered an eight-round unanimous decision defeat against Jake Paul, which is reflected on his professional record.
Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) last fought as a pro in 2017, but has engaged in several high-profile exhibitions in recent years.
