Moses Itauma has been seen training in the U.S. as he builds towards returning after a damaging defeat by Filip Hrgovic on August 29.
Queensberry chief Frank Warren has already confirmed 21-year-old Itauma will return in January and the Hall of Fame promoter would like him to face 'a name'.
WBO champion Daniel Dubois previously outlined his desire to face The Ring's No. 7-rated heavyweight, foreseeing a future where they would meet. Despite Itauma's recent setback, his promotional stablemate hopes it won't take years to make a fight between them.
When asked about the youngster's rebuilding process, Dubois (24-3, 23 KOs) has confidence he will manage well in the coming months after a humbling experience.
"Of course he can, he had the whole industry behind him. They won't let him give up I don't think," Dubois told Sky Sports.
An exhausted Itauma collapsed in the ninth round of a vacant IBF title fight against Hrgovic on August 29, suffering an upset stoppage loss. He scored a second-round knockdown and won every round up until that point.
"It was a great fight between him and Hrgovic, so there's no shame in that really. Hrgovic just showed that there's always someone out there that's stronger-willed than you, more determination, and he's got kids to feed."
Dubois, The Ring's No. 1 heavyweight, earned a spectacular second-round finish to dismiss former champion Fabio Wardley in their October 17 rematch. Dubois climbed off the canvas twice to stop Wardley in the 11th round of their first meeting back on May 9 and believes the best is yet to come.
"I don't think I've even touched the surface yet really, I'm just starting to unload properly now. It's going to be a good few next fights. Who's had a career like mine? Coming back from losses and then banging out good fighters."
Dubois was more measured on a future Itauma meeting, given what's changed in the last six months. Nonetheless, he's just completed the first in a six-fight target to become undisputed champion and wants the toughest tests.
"Let's see what happens. I'm the one experienced in these situations now. I want to fight him sooner, Moses, anyone that can give me a challenge. All the toughest fighters out there I want to face."
