Former super middleweight champion William Scull is ready to hit the reset button on his career after suffering his first loss against Canelo Alvarez in May.

Scull (23-1, 9 KOs) will face Jacob Bank (17-0, 9 KOs) on January 31 at the Sydbank Arena in Kolding, Denmark, it was announced on Friday.

Kasper Holgersen of Primetime Boxing will promote the event, and the card is also set to feature Ring bantamweight champion Dina Thorslund (23-0, 9 KOs) against an opponent still to be determined.

Scull failed to seize a career-altering opportunity against Alvarez earlier this year when he fought in a snoozer in Saudi Arabia against the Mexican superstar. The fight featured little action as Scull waltzed around the ring and refused to engage. Afterward, Alvarez chalked up the fight as a deceptive and sad encounter.

Scull secured the lucrative opportunity by virtue of picking up the IBF 168-pound title that Alvarez had vacated when the Germany-based Cuban outpointed Vladimir Shishkin in October of last year. Alvarez fought Edgar Berlanga at the time instead of his mandatory in Scull, but eventually decided to face Scull in his quest to become an undisputed super middleweight champion once again, to make his fight against Terence Crawford more enticing on paper.

Bank, 24, has competed exclusively in Denmark throughout his five-year career. He's coming off a fifth-round stoppage win against Tyron Zeuge in September.

As for Thorslund, a 32-year-old from Denmark, she was supposed to face Shurretta Metcalf in July, but she pulled out of the fight after learning she was pregnant. Thorslund later announced she had a miscarriage.
