Xander Zayas and his handlers hope his partnership with music superstar Bad Bunny will build the WBO junior middleweight champion's brand in Puerto Rico.
Xander Zayas has signed a marketing deal with Rimas Sports to expand his global reach and increase his recognition.
Rimas Sports is co-owned by internationally acclaimed recording artist Bad Bunny. The company represents athletes such as baseball stars Ronald Acuña Jr. and Fernando Tatis Jr.
The union calls for Rimas Sports to secure sponsorships, partnerships, and other related marketing and advertising deals for the 23-year-old Zayas, who like Bad Bunny, is of Puerto Rican descent. The two have built a friendly relationship in recent years.
“Joining Rimas Sports marks the beginning of a powerful new chapter in my career,” Zayas said in a statement. “This is more than a professional move – it’s about partnering with a team that truly understands me, both as a fighter and as a person. Rimas represents everything I stand for: culture, purpose, excellence, and ambition. I’m not here just to win belts – I want to leave a lasting legacy, become a global ambassador for boxing, and uplift my community and my island along the way. The title I won in July is just the beginning. With Rimas by my side, I’m ready to conquer the world.”
Zayas (22-0, 13 KOs) won the then-vacant WBO junior middleweight title July 26 in New York. The Sunrise, Florida resident defeated Mexico’s Jorge Garcia Perez (33-5, 26 KOs) by unanimous decision that night in The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Rimas Sports agency director Alejandro Padrón said Zayas is a generational talent and a perfect match for what they’re building as a company.
“His athletic ability is world-class, but it’s his integrity, humility, and global mindset that truly set him apart,” Padrón said in a statement. “Xander embodies the kind of athlete who transcends the ring – someone who inspires across cultures, languages, and borders. At Rimas, we’re not just managing athletes – we’re building global icons and empowering movements. With Xander, we’re not only backing a champion; we’re investing in a legacy.”
The deal was orchestrated by Zayas’ boxing manager and advisor, Peter Kahn, who is in the midst of signing other fighters to Rimas Sports for marketing deals as well.
“The new relationship with Rimas Sports is a strong addition to our team as Xander is entering a new phase of his career as a world champion,” Kahn said. “Rimas Sports will be leveraging its success in entertainment to provide Xander with brand partnerships and marketing support, especially in Puerto Rico, where Xander will continue to strengthen his footprint and fight in the near future to defend his world title.”
