The Ring has confirmed that handlers of the 23-year-old Tucker (15-1-1, 6 KOs) are finalizing a deal for him to take on The Ring’s second-ranked middleweight, Yoenli Hernandez (9-0, 8 KOs). The two will swap fists on the undercard of Sebastian Fundora’s WBC super welterweight title defense against Keith Thurman on March 28 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Boxing journalist Dan Rafael first reported that Hernandez-Tucker is in the works.
Tucker, in all likelihood, will enter the ring as an underdog. However, he has picked up five consecutive wins. In his last appearance, he looked as sharp as ever, beating Lorenzo Simpson by wide decision on June 21 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
As for Hernandez, he’s in a position of power. In addition to being No. 2 in The Ring’s middleweight ratings, he has top four spots in three of the four sanctioning bodies: No. 1 in the WBA, No. 3 in the WBO and No. 4 in the WBC.
The 28-year-old Cuban is coming off an active 2025, during which he went 3-0, with two of those victories coming via stoppage.
