Alycia Baumgardner's post-fight callout Friday night included a bout against MVP stablemate Amanda Serrano and she's not the only one.
Scotney (12-0), who became the youngest British undisputed world champion earlier this month after a grueling 10-round battle against Mayelli Flores, has joined the pack of beltholders keen to test themselves against her.
Serrano (48-4-1, 31 KOs) will make another defense of her Ring and unified featherweight titles against Germany's Cheyenne Hanson (17-2, 13 KOs) on a stacked May 30 card featuring four world championship contests.
While many have suggested the Katie Taylor trilogy has taken a lot out of the 37-year-old southpaw, Serrano has kept busy after returning to her more natural weight class at 126 pounds earlier this year, outpointing short-notice opponent Reina Tellez on January 3.
During the pre-fight presser, she spoke about wanting to break Christy Martin's 32-fight knockout record and judging by her own career trajectory, figures to remain competing for at least another year. It means continuing to defend her status as featherweight's flagbearer, with Scotney expected to move up in weight before much longer.
Given they are under the same promotional umbrella with MVP, making Serrano-Scotney shouldn't be too difficult but could lead to some awkward conversations within.
Serrano was the outfit's first star five years ago and signed a lifetime contract last year, that will see her transition into a chairwoman role, leading efforts to identify, sign, develop and market their ever-growing stable of fighters.
When asked about the possibility of a fight against Serrano, the 28-year-old acknowledged how much she's done for women's boxing and that ultimately, the Puerto Rican holds all the leverage.
She told Sky Sports: "I put her in the category with Katie, what they've achieved in the sport, the impact they've done as humans personally, she can pick and choose who she wants to fight. She is a superfight, so much respect for her but of course would love to share the ring with someone like that."
Former WBC featherweight champion Skye Nicolson (15-1, 3 KOs) defends her interim 122-pound title against Mariah Turner (12-1, 6 KOs) atop a Matchroom show in Melbourne, Australia on April 29 and the 30-year-old has doubled down on wanting Scotney next.
In a clip posted on the promotion's social media accounts this week, she previews the prospective matchup.
"If you look at me and Ellie at 122 pounds, I think I'm the superior boxer. Physically taller, longer, stronger in my opinion boxer. It's a great clash of styles, typical fighter versus boxer, I think Ellie knows she can't outbox me and will try to make it a rough, tough slugfest."
Having been outfoxed and drawn into a physical battle before a career-first defeat by Tiara Brown 13 months ago, Nicolson believes she's better suited to the lower weight division.
That may have just come at a time where Scotney's former promoter Eddie Hearn feels the Brit is on her way up, having campaigned at junior featherweight throughout her six-year professional career to date.
