A new world champion was crowned and another player has emerged among the elite at 147 pounds.
Teofimo Lopez beat Rolando “Rolly” Romero to become the WBA welterweight champion on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Brooklyn, New York native’s victory made him a three-division world champion.
The 29-year-old Lopez becoming a beltholder again, in his first fight at a new weight class, adds more juice to a rapidly ascending welterweight division packed with intriguing fights to be made.
