Amari Jones will face DeAundre Pettus in a 12-round middleweight matchup November 20 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California, it was announced on Friday.
Jones versus Pettus will headline a Golden Boy Promotions show on DAZN. In the co-feature, Gabriela Fundora is set to defend her Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO flyweight titles against Jasmina Zapotoczna.
Jones (17-0, 15 KOs), nicknamed “The Reaper,” is The Ring's sixth-ranked 160-pounder and is coming off a third-round demolition of former titleholder Vincenzo Gualtieri. The 24-year-old Oakland native currently sits in the IBF's No. 1 position to challenge recently crowned champ Aaron McKenna.
Pettus (14-4, 7 KOs), who is 2-2 over his last four fights, aims to prove he won’t be just another pit stop for Jones.
“I’m closer than ever to a world title and anything in my way is getting rolled over,” Jones said in a statement. “I don’t bring fear, I bring the end.”
“Sweet Poison” Fundora, meanwhile, will continue her run at 112 pounds after previously considering a potential move to the junior bantamweight division. Fundora (18-0, 10 KOs), The Ring’s No. 3-ranked pound-for-pound fighter and 2024 “Fighter of the Year,” last fought in March and starched Viviana Ruiz inside six rounds for her fourth straight stoppage win.
Zapotoczna (10-1, 0 KOs) is a 32-year-old Polish pugilist based in England. The four-year veteran will make her United States debut near Fundora’s hometown of Coachella, California.
Zapotoczna claimed the European flyweight title in March 2025 by beating Chloe Watson. She defended the crown eight months later, when she defeated Justine Lallemand by majority decision.
Zapotoczna will end a one-year layoff when she challenges Fundora.
“Amari Jones is next in line for a world title and is chasing greatness. Anyone with a world title in the middleweight division – beware,” promoter Oscar De La Hoya said in a statement. “Having Gabriela Fundora defend her undisputed championship in her own backyard makes this night even more special.
“Gabriela is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in women’s boxing, and the Coachella Valley has watched her grow from a young prospect into an undisputed world champion. We’re closing out the year at Fantasy Springs with two of Golden Boy’s brightest stars, and I expect fireworks from start to finish.”
