Just under one week after adding Top Rank Boxing to the fold, DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions announced on Tuesday they've agreed to a multi-year extension.
Golden Boy and DAZN have worked together since the streaming service’s foray into boxing in late 2018, with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez headlining the first card that December.
Golden Boy's deal with DAZN originally ended in December, though they worked together to put on cards on January 16 and March 14 in California. The extension now puts Golden Boy, Matchroom Boxing, Queensberry Promotions and Top Rank all on DAZN.
"We're firing on all cylinders right now," said chairman and Golden Boy CEO Oscar de La Hoya in a press release.
"No-one builds champions like we do. It's a special formula mixed with a fighter's talent, discipline and star power. As we approach a decade with DAZN, we're going to keep setting the tone for the sport in 2026 and shaping the future of boxing."
DAZN’s extension with Golden Boy adds another layer to its ongoing legal battle with Vergil Ortiz. Ortiz, The Ring’s No. 1-ranked junior middleweight, sued the promotion on the basis that it didn’t have a deal with a network.
Ortiz sought to make a fight with Jaron “Boots” Ennis on April 18 in Las Vegas without the promotion’s involvement, but a temporary restraining order was granted by and later upheld by a Nevada judge.
An arbitrator will rule on the situation by September.
Golden Boy and Ortiz’s deal currently runs through August of next year.
The promotion's roster includes undisputed flyweight champion Gabriela Fundora, unified titleholders Oscar Collazo and Gilberto Ramirez as well as newly-crowned WBC welterweight titleholder Ryan Garcia. Fundora and Collazo both earned stoppage victories during the same show earlier this month.
The next card currently on the calendar for Golden Boy is Ramirez defending his WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles against WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez on May 2 at T-Mobile Arena. The card is being broadcast on Prime Video PPV and DAZN PPV, the latter as part of the DAZN Ultimate plan for its subscribers.
