Bakhram Murtazaliev doesn’t believe the judges got it right.
After losing a close majority decision to Josh Kelly last weekend, members of Murtazaliev’s team have informed The Ring that they have requested an immediate rematch for the IBF junior middleweight title.
Kelly (18-1-1, 9 KOs) scored a knockdown in the fourth round but touched the canvas himself in the ninth en route to a win on the cards, which read 113-113, 115-111, 114-113.
It was Gray's scorecard which Team Murtazaliev have taken issue with, according to Fight Freaks Unite. The Englishman scored the final round 10-10. Had he scored it for Murtazaliev (23-1, 17 KOs), the fight would've ended in a split draw and the Russian would've retained his title. Pawel Kardyni scored the final round to Murtazaliev while John Basile gave it to Kelly.
The decision is now up to the IBF. Kelly will be looking to go in a different direction, with fellow 154-pounders Jaron Ennis, Xander Zayas and Sebastian Fundora waiting in the wings.
